Information about Aging in Place Remodeling Videos
Most adults would prefer to age in place. That is, remain in their home of choice as long as possible. In fact, 90 percent of adults over the age of 65 report that they would prefer to stay in their current residence as they age. One-third of American households are home to one or more residents 60 years of age or older.
Please Note: We only do major construction projects and large scale home remodeling. We are not a handyman service so we don’t do small simple tasks. Which is good for you because paying a general contractor to perform a lower price handyman service is not cost effective for you.
There are 3 Needs Levels for those Aging in Place:
Aging in place without urgent needs.
- This group includes individuals who want to stay in their current home, but are not experiencing immediate health or mobility issues.
Aging in place with progressive condition-based needs.
- This group is made up of those with chronic or progressive conditions that will require special modifications for aging in place. These individuals are usually aware of their needs and meeting them is becoming increasingly urgent.
Aging in place with traumatic change needs.
- This group includes those who experience an abrupt change that demands adjustments in the living environment; such as home modifications or universal design.
While the first non-urgent needs level may utilize a handyman for simple ‘ease of use’ mods, the other 2 levels require an expert contractor. HK Construction has decades of experience in serving the special needs of the elder community.
